Crispen: Air Fryer Recipes ("Crispen") is made by Envsmithy. We built Crispen to need as little of your data as possible. There are no accounts, and we don't sell or share your data for advertising.

What stays on your iPhone

Your saved recipes, photos, edits, notes, cooking history and settings are stored on your device. If iCloud is on, they sync through your own private iCloud account (the CloudKit private database), which we can't read, and come back if you reinstall. To remove them from iCloud, delete them in the app, or turn off iCloud for Crispen in your iPhone's Settings.

Photos you take of a finished dish after cooking stay on your device and in your own iCloud. They are never sent to the AI or to our servers.

What is sent to our server

• Recipe imports. When you import a recipe, the link and the text read from the post (or from your photo, which is read on your phone) are sent to our backend, processed by our AI provider to turn them into a recipe, and stored together with the result to improve Crispen. For YouTube links, your phone reads the video's description and captions from YouTube and sends that text. To give the recipe a clean photo of the dish, the photo you imported (with location and camera details removed) or the post's cover image is also sent to our server and OpenAI, which makes the new photo. The original is deleted once that's done; the new photo is kept for 30 days.
• Ask AI photos. Recipes from Ask AI get a photo made by OpenAI from the recipe's name and ingredients, kept on our server for 30 days.
• Ask AI. Your messages are sent to our backend and processed by our AI provider. Your questions and the answers are stored on our server to improve Crispen.
• Recipe catalog and settings. The app fetches the recipe catalog and its configuration from our server. These requests carry no personal data.
• Subscription check. The app sends Apple's signed proof of your subscription so our server can confirm it. It contains a purchase ID, not your name, email or payment details.
• Feedback. If you send feedback from Settings, your message is sent to us. Adding your email is optional and only used to reply to you.

Imports and Ask AI are processed with OpenAI's models. OpenAI processes this content to produce the answer and doesn't use it for advertising.

Waitlist

If you join the Crispen waitlist on our website, we store your email, the Instagram or TikTok handle you add (optional), the link you came from and your country (from your connection), on Cloudflare. We use them only to send your invite and Crispen launch news, and never sell or share them. To be removed, use the unsubscribe link in any email or write to support@envsmithy.com.

Photos, microphone and speech

Crispen only sends a photo to our server when you pick or take one to import a recipe. Cook photos of your finished dishes stay on your device and in your own iCloud. The microphone is used only while you tap the mic to search by voice; speech is turned into text by Apple.

Usage analytics

We record how Crispen is used (screens, imports, searches and Ask AI questions) with PostHog and on our own server, to fix problems and add the recipes people want. This data is linked to a random ID created by the app and, for subscribers, a purchase ID from Apple, never to your name, email or Apple Account. We don't use it for advertising or to track you across other apps or websites.

Payments

Subscriptions are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details.

How long we keep it

Imports, questions and searches are kept for up to 12 months. Basic technical logs are kept for up to 30 days.

Server logs

Our server keeps basic technical logs (like IP address and errors) for up to 30 days to keep the service secure and working.

Children

Crispen is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Your choices

You can delete your recipes in the app at any time, or delete the app to remove everything on your device. To ask about or delete any data on our server, email support@envsmithy.com.

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date above.
