Questions
What temperature should I use in an air fryer?
Most foods cook best at 375–400°F. Use 400°F for crispy foods like fries, wings and frozen snacks, 375–380°F for chicken breasts, pork chops and fish, and 320–350°F for baking and anything that browns fast.
Do I need to preheat the air fryer?
A 3-minute preheat gives crisper results, especially for meat and frozen foods. If you skip it, add 1–2 minutes to the cook time.
Should I shake or flip food in the air fryer?
Yes. Shake small foods like fries, vegetables and nuggets halfway through, and flip larger pieces like chicken breasts, chops and fish. It gives even browning on all sides.
How do I convert oven time to air fryer time?
Lower the oven temperature by 25°F and cut the time by about 20%. Check a few minutes early. The oven to air fryer converter does the math for you.
Why is my air fryer food soggy?
Usually the basket is too full. Cook in a single layer with space between pieces, pat wet foods dry, and use a light coat of oil. Overcrowding steams food instead of crisping it.
